Songs To Feel Good, Part 1

So, I’ve caught myself researching sometimes for inspirational songs… Something that basically says “I’ve got potential” or “I’ll make it through”… but I never really found what I was looking for. So I decided to put together some of the songs I already fit into this category of music. After going through and organizing the songs, it seems that I have way too many for 1 post. So this will be divided into 4 parts, each containing 7 songs. There will be different genres of songs here and there, so bear with me. The important thing is the message.

Katy Perry – Firework

“Maybe a reason why, all the doors are closed, so you could open one that leads you to the perfect road.”

I personally… I love this song so much… It’s just, the message it has. Even though it seems tough right now, even though you feel misplaced and misunderstood and that everything is going wrong, just hang in there because you’re amazing and sometimes bad things happen just to make way for something incredible. You are special, you are unique, and you should know that. This is definitely a song that I have always found inspirational and it gives me goosebumps sometimes.

Natasha Bedingfield – Unwritten

“The rest is still unwritten.”

I have liked this song for as long as I remember. I used to sing the chorus as a child, and I really have no idea what was the first time I heard it, but, after growing up a bit and hearing it again, I realized how amazing the lyrics were and just fell even more in love with the song. You have to take charge of your life and do what you have to do because… well… only you can be you.

Kelly Clarkson – Breakaway

“I gotta take a risk, take a chance, make a change… and breakaway.”

This is another song I fondly remember from when I was younger. The song is catchy, the sound is nice, but most of all, I love the lyrics. Sometimes you just need to remember that you have to try and do what you can to be happy instead of just sitting around feeling bad for yourself. Go out there and spread your wings!

Donna Summer – The Power of One

“Just look inside, you’ll be surprised…. what you… can do.”

Okay, I know this is from a Pokémon movie. I am a Pokémon fan. Anyway, this song is beautiful. It has a mellow flow to it and is honestly relaxing to listen to, and it still has the wonderful message that basically says that even though you’re just one, that doesn’t mean you’re helpless. You may be one, but hey, you can still make a difference…

Demi Lovto – Skyscraper

“Go on and try to tear me down. I will be rising from the ground… like a skyscraper.”

This is, in my opinion, a nice song to listen to when you feel beat down. It’s uplifting, to me, even though it isn’t specifically upbeat. People can try tear you down and break you apart, but it’s important to stay strong and live on through. Don’t give someone the satisfaction of breaking who you are. Put your foot on the ground and rise up; be amazing.

Jimmy Eat World – The Middle

“Live right now. Just be yourself. It doesn’t matter if it’s good enough for someone else.”

I will be honest here, this is the first time I actually saw the video. I first heard this on Pandora, and I instantly fell in love with it. Basically, really, don’t change who you are to try and fit in. A lot of the times, being yourself will actually help you find people who will like you for who you are. Don’t worry about what other people say about you, because what really matters is what you think about yourself.

Destiny’s Child – Survivor

“I’m a survivor. I’m not gon’ give up. I’m not gon’ stop. I’m gon’ work harder.”

I used to sing this here and there as a child, mostly sing the little “word” that seems to be at the end of each verse in the chorus. It has a pretty good message to it. Bad stuff happens in your life, but be strong. Survive. Don’t go down to someone’s level when they treat you badly. Just keep doing your best and keep surviving. Keep living.
